As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Cease Fire…DSTBS) and its founder, the Honorable Al-Malik Farrakhan, we reflect on three decades of unwavering commitment, transformative projects, and the incredible support of our community and partners like you.
We are launching a special anniversary funding appeal in conjunction with our 30th anniversary celebration, which will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at The Hotel at the University of MD, located at 7777 Baltimore Ave, College Park, MD 20740. The event will begin at 5:00 PM.
16th Annual Free Thanksgiving Day Sit-Down Dinner
Held at our Community Center (4708 14th St NW, Washington, DC), this holiday meal welcomes ex-prisoners, the homeless, seniors, at-risk youth, gang-affected individuals, and all who wish to join us in gratitude and community.
11th Annual Celebration of Remembrance
Honoring the legacy of Mayor for Life Marion Barry, Jr. and his son, Marion Christopher Barry, with reflections, community voices, and celebration.
6th Annual Free Coat & Toy Giveaway
In honor of Kwanzaa’s final day, Imani (Faith), we provide coats and toys to families in need to start the new year with warmth and joy.
Uniting the community to launch a six-month moratorium on violence in Ward 4, the
Annual Six Months Moratorium to Stop the Killings! Cookout and Amateur Boxing
Match, in association with Universal Madness, includes a large cookout, exciting
amateur boxing matches, a backpack and school supply giveaway, live entertainment,
and children's activities.
This annual event offers free Thanksgiving meals to those in need by distributing
donated turkey baskets with all the trimmings and hosting a free sit-down dinner for
returning citizens, at-risk youth, seniors, and anyone in search of a warm meal and a
welcoming environment.
Annual Celebration of Remembrance honoring D.C. Mayor for Life Marion S. Barry, Jr.
and his son, Marion Christopher Barry, who played key roles in reducing discrimination
against ex-offenders.
Our Kwanzaa celebration reflects the spirit of sharing and caring by providing free coats
and toys to families in need. With the help of volunteers, these gifts are distributed to
promote unity, support our neighbors, and honor the final day of Kwanzaa, which
symbolizes faith (Imani).
Cease Fire...DSTBS was born in Washington, D.C., in a time when our communities were under siege. We answered the call then — and we’re still answering it now.
